An incredible converted gospel hall set to appear in the second series of Channel 4's Great British Home Restoration has been put up for sale. Originally a Gospel and Salvation Army hall, the extraordinary Salvation House was designed by Sir Oswald Archer in 1930 and has a wealth of history.

Sympathetically converted in 2023, this unique mid Devon property has been transformed into a luxurious three-bedroom, three-bathroom home.

With a remarkable eye for detail, the property's current vendors have created an exceptionally unique home that offers contemporary living, while retaining an abundance of beautiful original features throughout.

With a superb feeling of light and space, Salvation House boasts high ceilings and modern accents, along with an outstanding roof terrace that features a striking geodesic dome and overlooks surrounding rooftops with views to the countryside beyond.

The process of restoring and renovating the building was filmed for the second series of Great British Home Restoration with Charlie Luxton, which will be aired towards the end of the year.

Alice Deuchar Design who undertook the conversion said: "As soon as I walked into this stunning Art Deco building I had a strong vision of how I wanted the space to eventually look. Honouring the 1930s bones of the building and incorporating as many of the original features as possible, I designed a space that celebrates the original architectural features but also now works beautifully as a modern home.

"The original total immersion font I re-designed as a wine cellar, complete with original steps down and brass inlay inset into the parquet.

"The staircase was a structural engineering feat to design between the two original steels, but we managed it, and the quirk of the elegant bespoke staircase leading through an electronic roof hatch to a geodesic dome and the roof terrace beyond, is such a wonderful feature."

With the property's furniture available by separate negotiation, Salvation House offers the potential to be the perfect lock-up-and-leave investment, or simply a beautiful, bespoke home.

Double doors open into the property's entrance foyer where an arch leads into an elegant double-height living area that seamlessly merges the kitchen, dining and sitting space.

With underfloor heating throughout, plus a hand-painted mural, the living space also boasts an integrated Loxone Smart System with speakers, bioethanol fireplace and the underground wine store.

The kitchen includes a Falcon Range cooker, large larder fridge freezers, a dishwasher and an instant hot water tap. There is a useful utility with an additional wc, and the bespoke staircase leads to the roof terrace.

There are two sets of original steps, one leading to the principal bedroom suite and one to the rear hallway. Two further bedrooms are on the lower ground floor.

From the bespoke internal staircase, a large electronic roof hatch opens into the stunning geodesic dome where there is space for sun loungers, plus access to the roof terrace with its edible garden, outdoor dining area, and mesmerising Devon landscape views.

Salvation House is being marketed by West Country specialists Stags at a guide price of £650,000.

Stags said: "Situated within the popular duchy town of Bradninch, the property sits within a conservation area with beautiful, unspoilt countryside just a stone's throw away. With an interesting history and an abundance of divine attributes, Salvation House is arguably one of the most interesting properties within the town."
